A beautiful and delicious layered dessert made with fresh strawberries, whipped cream, and soft cake, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 1 pound cake or sponge cake, cut into cubes
- 4 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 1/3 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened (optional)
- Fresh strawberries and mint leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Combine the sliced strawberries with the sugar and lemon juice in a medium bowl. Stir well, and let it sit for 10-15 minutes.
- Whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form.
- Cut the pound cake into 1-inch cubes and set aside.
- Layer the cake cubes, spoonfuls of the strawberries with their syrup, and the whipped cream in a trifle bowl. Repeat layers until full.
- Decorate with fresh strawberries and mint leaves on top.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving.
Notes
Best enjoyed fresh, but can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Do not freeze.
