Description

A beautiful and delicious layered dessert made with fresh strawberries, whipped cream, and soft cake, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound cake or sponge cake, cut into cubes
  • 4 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened (optional)
  • Fresh strawberries and mint leaves for garnish (optional)


Instructions

  1. Combine the sliced strawberries with the sugar and lemon juice in a medium bowl. Stir well, and let it sit for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form.
  3. Cut the pound cake into 1-inch cubes and set aside.
  4. Layer the cake cubes, spoonfuls of the strawberries with their syrup, and the whipped cream in a trifle bowl. Repeat layers until full.
  5. Decorate with fresh strawberries and mint leaves on top.
  6. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving.

Notes

Best enjoyed fresh, but can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Do not freeze.
