Ingredients
- 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- ⅓ cup granulated sugar
- 3 tablespoons packed light brown sugar
- ¾ cup salted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (for the filling)
- 3 cups chopped fresh strawberries
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (for the strawberries)
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon light or heavy whipping cream
- ¼ teaspoon pure vanilla extract (for the glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare an 8-inch square baking pan by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.
- Combine 1 ¾ cups of flour, ⅓ cup of granulated sugar, 3 tablespoons of light brown sugar, and melted butter in a mixing bowl. Stir until well blended and crumbly.
- Press the mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan to form a crust.
- Mix 3 cups of strawberries with 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar and 1 tablespoon of flour in another bowl. Toss to coat the strawberries.
- Spread the strawberry mixture evenly over the crust.
- Bake for about 30-35 minutes, or until the fruit is bubbling and the crust is lightly golden. Allow to cool.
- Whisk powdered sugar, whipping cream, and ¼ teaspoon vanilla in a small bowl until smooth for the glaze.
- Drizzle the glaze over the cooled bars and let set before cutting into squares.
Notes
For a richer flavor, consider browning your butter before mixing it into the crust ingredients. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
