Description

A vibrant, multi-colored cake that’s perfect for birthdays and celebrations, delivering a moist and fluffy texture.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Food coloring (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple)
  • Frosting (buttercream or cream cheese)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour six 8-inch round cake pans.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, and then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually mix this dry mixture into the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk.
  5. Divide the batter into six bowls, adding different food coloring to each bowl.
  6. Pour each colored batter into the prepared pans, ensuring even distribution.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
  8. Let the layers cool completely before frosting.
  9. Layer the cakes by spreading frosting between each layer, and coat the top and sides thoroughly.
  10. Decorate as desired to bring your creation to life!

Notes

Store leftover cake in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. You can also freeze each layer individually.
