Description

A classic dessert combining chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry flavors in one stunning layered cake.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup strawberry puree or crushed strawberries
  • 1 cup vanilla frosting
  • 1 cup chocolate frosting
  • Fresh strawberries and chocolate shavings for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare three 8-inch round cake pans by greasing and flouring them.
  2. Whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  3. Add the softened butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and milk to the dry ingredients. Mix on medium speed until smooth.
  4. Divide the batter evenly into three bowls: leave one plain for the vanilla layer, mix cocoa powder into the second for the chocolate layer, and add strawberry puree to the third.
  5. Pour each batter into the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Allow the cakes to cool for 10 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
  7. Frost each layer: chocolate frosting on chocolate, vanilla frosting on vanilla, and strawberry frosting on strawberry.
  8. Stack the layers together carefully and top with fresh strawberries and chocolate shavings.
  9. Serve and enjoy the delightful flavors!

Notes

For a lighter finish, try using cream cheese frosting or whipped cream. This cake can also be frozen for longer storage.
