Description
A classic dessert combining chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry flavors in one stunning layered cake.
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup strawberry puree or crushed strawberries
- 1 cup vanilla frosting
- 1 cup chocolate frosting
- Fresh strawberries and chocolate shavings for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare three 8-inch round cake pans by greasing and flouring them.
- Whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
- Add the softened butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and milk to the dry ingredients. Mix on medium speed until smooth.
- Divide the batter evenly into three bowls: leave one plain for the vanilla layer, mix cocoa powder into the second for the chocolate layer, and add strawberry puree to the third.
- Pour each batter into the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool for 10 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
- Frost each layer: chocolate frosting on chocolate, vanilla frosting on vanilla, and strawberry frosting on strawberry.
- Stack the layers together carefully and top with fresh strawberries and chocolate shavings.
- Serve and enjoy the delightful flavors!
Notes
For a lighter finish, try using cream cheese frosting or whipped cream. This cake can also be frozen for longer storage.
