Description
A warm, crusty loaf infused with garlic, Parmesan, and fresh herbs, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 3 cups bread flour
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup warm water (about 110°F / 43°C)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp fresh herbs, chopped (rosemary, thyme, or a mix)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
Instructions
- Warm 1 cup of water to around 110°F (43°C). Sprinkle the sugar over the water, then add the yeast. Wait 5 minutes until it becomes foamy and smells yeasty.
- In a large bowl, whisk together 3 cups bread flour and 1 tsp salt.
- Pour the activated yeast mixture, 2 tbsp olive oil, 1/4 cup grated Parmesan, minced garlic, and chopped herbs into the flour.
- Stir with a spoon until a shaggy dough forms. Flour a work surface lightly and turn the dough out.
- Knead by hand for 8–10 minutes until the dough is smooth, elastic, and slightly tacky.
- Lightly oil a bowl. Place the dough inside and turn once to coat the surface. Cover and let rise in a warm place about 1 hour, until doubled.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) while the dough rises for the second time.
- Punch the dough down gently, shape into a loaf and place into a greased 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- Cover and let the shaped loaf rise for 30 minutes, until puffy.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes until the crust is golden and the loaf sounds hollow when tapped.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to finish cooling before slicing.
Notes
Best served warm. Pairs well with soups and salads. Store at room temperature wrapped in a cloth for 1–2 days.
