Description
Rich fudgy brownies topped with a luscious layer of chocolate mousse, perfect for any gathering.
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 8 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped
- Whipped cream for serving (optional)
- Cocoa powder for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- Melt the butter over low heat in a medium saucepan. Stir in the sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
- Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually mix this into the wet ingredients, being careful not to overmix.
- Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs. Let cool completely.
- Heat the heavy cream in a saucepan until it simmers. Remove from heat and add the chopped chocolate, stirring until smooth. Allow to cool slightly.
- Whip the chocolate mixture with an electric mixer until soft peaks form. Spread the mousse over the cooled brownies and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to set.
- Slice the brownies, top with whipped cream if desired, and dust with cocoa powder before serving.
Notes
For best results, do not overmix the batter and let the mousse cool before whipping.
