Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- 1 cup sharp cheddar, shredded
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup melted butter, slightly cooled
- 1 large egg
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- Whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder in a large bowl.
- Stir in the shredded cheddar until lightly coated with the dry mix.
- Whisk together the milk, melted butter, and egg until smooth in another bowl.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Bake for 45–50 minutes until golden; cool before slicing.
Notes
Serve warm with butter or alongside soups and salads. Can be made ahead and stored for later. Don’t overmix to ensure a tender crumb.
