Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
- 6 large eggs
- 1/2 cup whole or 2% milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (for topping)
- 4 strips turkey bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease a baking dish.
- Combine flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder in a large mixing bowl.
- Cut in the cold, cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese, followed by the buttermilk, mixing until just combined.
- Whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, black pepper, and onion powder in a separate bowl until well blended.
- Spread half of the biscuit dough in the prepared baking dish to create an even layer.
- Pour the egg mixture over the biscuit layer, then sprinkle crumbled turkey bacon and remaining cheddar cheese on top.
- Drop spoonfuls of the remaining biscuit dough over the egg mixture, distributing it evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes or until golden and set.
Notes
For a lighter option, use low-fat cheese or swap turkey bacon for a vegetarian alternative. Add diced vegetables for extra nutrition.
