Description

A quick, healthy dish featuring tender shrimp and crisp broccoli, all cooked in a garlicky olive oil sauce with a squeeze of lemon.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 cups broccoli florets, trimmed
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Lemon wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Pour in 2 tablespoons olive oil and let it warm until it shimmers.
  2. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger. Sauté for about 30-60 seconds, stirring constantly.
  3. Add the shrimp in a single layer. Cook without moving for about 1 minute, then flip and cook another 1-2 minutes until shrimp turn pink and opaque.
  4. Push the shrimp to the side, add the broccoli florets, and stir to coat in the oil. Add a tablespoon of water if the pan looks dry.
  5. Cover the skillet and steam for about 4-5 minutes until broccoli is tender-crisp.
  6. Remove the lid, toss everything together, and season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Serve immediately with lemon wedges.

Notes

Pat shrimp dry before cooking for a better sear. Use a wide skillet to prevent steaming. For an extra touch of flavor, deglaze the pan with white wine or lemon juice after cooking the shrimp.
