Ingredients
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons milk
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
- ½ cup honey
- 2 tablespoons hot sauce (adjust to taste)
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Make the hot honey sauce: In a small saucepan, combine the honey, hot sauce, butter, apple cider vinegar, and red pepper flakes. Heat over medium until melted and smooth; set aside.
- Prep the shrimp: Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.
- Mix the flour coating: In a bowl, whisk together the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
- Prepare the egg mixture: In another bowl, beat the eggs with the milk.
- Heat the oil: Fill a deep pan with about 2 inches of vegetable oil and heat it to 350°F (175°C).
- Coat the shrimp: Dip each shrimp into the flour mixture, shake off excess, dip into the egg mixture, and then back into the flour mixture until coated evenly.
- Fry the shrimp: Carefully place the shrimp in the hot oil in batches, frying for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Toss in hot honey: Gently toss the fried shrimp in the hot honey sauce until coated.
- Serve hot: Plate and enjoy immediately, with extra sauce on the side for dipping.
Notes
