Description

Crispy baked fries topped with seasoned ground beef, gooey cheddar, and fresh chives for a simple and satisfying comfort food.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds frozen french fries
  • 8 ounces ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven according to the fry packaging instructions.
  2. Spread the frozen fries in a single layer on a baking sheet and bake until golden brown and crispy, flipping halfway if needed (20–30 minutes).
  3. While the fries bake, cook the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat, breaking it up until browned.
  4. Drain excess grease, then season the beef with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  5. Once the fries are done, either transfer them to an oven-safe dish or keep them on the baking sheet.
  6. Distribute the cooked ground beef evenly over the fries.
  7. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top and return to the oven for 3–6 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Remove from the oven, top with sour cream and chopped chives, and serve immediately.

Notes

For a vegetarian option, substitute seasoned lentils or canned chili for the ground beef. Freshly shredded cheese melts better than pre-shredded.
